Recently, Review meeting for two group standards, including General Technical Requirements for Degradable Plant Fiber Tableware, was successfully held. The event was jointly organized by the Standardization Committee of China Association for the Promotion of International Economic and Technological Cooperation (GBW). The meeting was chaired by Dong Keyan from the Standard Department of (GBW), with representatives from relevant participating units and industry experts gathering together. Huang Xihui, Deputy Head of the Standard Drafting Group and Deputy Director of the Standard Department, attended the meeting. 

At the beginning of the meeting, the Standard Department gave a detailed introduction to GBW since its establishment, providing attendees with a more comprehensive understanding of its work. It also reported and explained the project background, compilation status, principles and framework, as well as the work plan of the two group standards. These two standards are of great significance, aiming to provide scientific basis for the quality control of degradable plant fiber molded tableware and the recycling and utilization of disposable meal boxes, reduce resource waste of tableware, lower environmental pollution risks, and promote the entire industry to develop towards a green direction. In the subsequent discussion session, industry experts and representatives from participating units conducted a comprehensive review of the two group standards, focusing on aspects such as scope, normative references, terms and definitions, recycling, recycle, basic requirements, and technical requirements. All participants unanimously agreed that the standards are based on existing relevant technical indicators and requirements in the industry, adhering to the principles of comprehensiveness and systematization. They standardize the material selection criteria for degradable plant fiber raw materials, clarify performance requirements for tableware such as heat resistance, oil resistance, and drop strength, and also stipulate aspects including classification and labeling, recycling channel construction, recycle processes, technical specifications for regeneration and utilization, and environmental emission requirements for disposable meal boxes. This will effectively improve product quality and recycling efficiency, and enhance the industry's environmental awareness.

 At the end of the meeting, Huang Xihui, Deputy Director of the Standard Department, delivered a concluding speech. She pointed out that in recent years, with the booming development of the food delivery and fast-food industries and the full popularization of instant delivery models, the market demand for disposable catering utensils has seen explosive growth. Against this backdrop, degradable tableware represented by plant fiber molded products is gradually becoming an important alternative to traditional plastic tableware due to its green and environmentally friendly characteristics. The initiation and compilation of these two group standards by GBW not only helps promote innovation in environmental protection material technology but also drives the coordinated development of upstream and downstream industrial chains and improves the resource recycling system. 

The publication and implementation of these two standards will undoubtedly bring new changes to China's tableware industry. In the future, China's tableware industry will move towards the sustainable development direction of "green production, standardized recycling, and efficient utilization," injecting new impetus into the construction of ecological civilization. Our paper-pulp industry will also embrace more development opportunities in this green wave.
